General Information
Mount Süphan Eiduru Program is preferred by adventurers and mountaineers who want to generally explore the natural beauties of Van as well as its cultural richness.
Along with a climb to Mount Süphan, the program includes trips to Akdamar Island, fortresses of Van, Çavuştepe (Haykaberd) and Hoşap Castle. In the Urartian religion, Mount Suphan is a god and the god’s Name is Eiduru is the inspiration for the name of our climbing program.
Climb to Mount Suphan Tour Organization and 5 Days Eiduru Program & Details:
1st Day: We’ll welcome you in Van and settle into our hotel. After settling in, we’ll visit the historical Van Fortress. After dinner in Van Fortress, we have a tour of the city and return back to our hotel Here, we’ll make our last preparations for the next day’s summit trip.
2nd Day: After a three-hour ride earlier in the morning, we’ll arrive at Kışkıllı Village. We’ll set up our camp after reaching to 2600 meters.
3rd Day: We’ll wake up for summit climb and start our hike with the help of headlights. After about 6 or 8 hours, we’ll reach to summit of Mount Süphan at 4058 meters known as Sandıktepe. Here, we’ll rest for half an hour and return back to our camp area after a 5-hour long hike. After resting and eating, we return back to our hotel in Van.
4th Day: Today, we’ll start our tour of Van’s historical buildings. Our first stop will be Akdamar Island. Right after our visit to the island, we’ll see the Çavuştepe Fortress and Hoşap Castle and return back to our hotel in Van.
5th Day: In the morning, we transfer you to Van Airport with vehicles and that concludes the Süphan Eiduru program.

- Mount Suphan Climbing Organization Info:
We transfer our kitchen equipment and tents to Mount Suphan Camp area with our vehicles. During the climb, our firm will keep a cook on the mountain ready, responsible for preparing your hot food and drinks. On climb days, our cook will provide your rations every morning and the climb nights for your consumption during hikes. There’ll be guards responsible for the camp security. This way the equipment you left behind will be safe and the tents will be under surveillance in the case of bad weather conditions. The equipment you won’t need during the climb will be kept by our contracted hotel to be handed back to you after your return. Equipment you’ll be bringing to the mountain will be transferred between the camps by carrier mules and you won’t be charged any extra fee for all these services. We request our vegetarian and vegan visitors to inform us in advance about their choices.
- Attention:Please do not leave your group during the climb without informing your guide. Staying together with the group will help you to spend less of your energy and protects us from any possible accident that may happen. You should bring your trekking poles with you and use them during the hike. These poles will not only lower the possibility of an accident, but it’ll also help you lighten your weight so you’ll be less tired. Poles that are adjusted to your heart level will also help you to relax your circulation.
CLIMB TO Mount Suphan EXPEDITION “EIDURU” 5 DAYS:
1st Day: Welcoming Day
Today, we’ll welcome you in Van and transfer you to the hotel with our vehicles. After settling in, we’ll visit the historical Van Fortress and have our dinner here. After dinner, we’ll have a tour in the city of Van and head back to our hotel. We’ll have the chance to prepare for the next day’s climb here.

2nd Day: Mount Süphan 2600 meters Kışkıllı Camp

3rd Day: Mount Süphan “Summit Day”
Today, we’ll try to reach the summit from the camp area at 2600 meters while occasionally crossing areas with the inclination of 15 degrees. In the morning, we’ll eat the hot meals and take the rations provided by our cook. After the meal, we’ll start our hike with the help of our headlights. Hike usually begins between 03:00 and 04:00. After about 6 or 8 hours, we’ll reach to summit of Mount Süphan at 4058 meters known as Sandıktepe. It is possible to get a bird’s eye view of Lake Van and its surrounding areas from here. If we also have clear weather conditions, it’s possible to get a clear view of Mount Ararat. Volcanic vent which is also an inspiration for the name of our Mount Süphan program gives a deep impression of the mountain’s volcanic character. And this vent is one of the hardest parts of the climb. Our route also has occasional sandy areas. Using leggings provides a great deal of advantages to climbers. After resting at the summit for half an hour, we’ll start our descent to Kışkıllı camp area. When we arrive at the camp after 4 hours, we’ll take a break with our cook’s food service. After meal and rest for one hour, we’ll quickly pack up our tents and return back to our hotel in Van spending the rest of day resting.

4th Day: “Van Tour”
Today we’ll start to explore the captivating history of Van after a nice breakfast at our hotel. We’ll leave the hotel and head on to our first stop, Akdamar Island. We’ll take the ferry in the town of Edremit and travel to Akdamar Island where we’ll be sightseeing for an hour. After leaving the island, we’ll see the Çavuştepe Fortress and then proceed to our last stop, Hoşap Castle. After an hour of Hoşap Castle tour, we’ll return back to our hotel in Van and complete our tour program.

5th Day: “Farewell Day”
After a nice breakfast in Van, we’ll get you to the airport with our vehicles and this special mountain program will be complete at the airport with great memories.
