MOUNT ARARAT SOUTHEAST ROUTE “THIS ROUTE IS CLOSED FOR CLIMBING!”
Mount Ararat southeast route is the one of the least preferred routes for climbs and hikes. The main reasons for this are the requirement of a special permit and difficulties of organization. There are two main camps in this very long route. Starting point is the Güngören Village at 2000 meters. This village is two hours away from the city with vehicles and the village has a stabilized road. After an average of 11 kilometers hike, you can reach the Hacı Osman Plateau at 3500 meters. The first camp is located in this plateau. Second camp is located at 4300 meters and can be reached after 4300 meters. Although there are no shortages of water in the plateau, second camp area may have water shortages from time to time.
